WINTER CHURCH OF THE SAINT APOSTLE ANDREW, THE FIRST-CALLED

In the summer of 2000, first construction woks for the of the new church started, where participated priests and inhabitans of the Convent, the seminarists of the Theological Seminary in Noul-Neamț and the students of the Regency School within the convent.

The foundation was consecrated in 2001, and the first stone has been put On September 19, 2002, at the first visit of Metropolitan Vladimir. Construction work started thanks to financial support from Moscow, Russia - Evgheni and Elena Volcov, together with their friends (Vladimir Costrikin et al.).

The church is built in the form of a nave, with 5 towers, an altar and two lateral apses. On the underground level there is the Winter Apostle Andrew the First-Called Church and the Summer Church is on the ground floor, in the name of Myrrhbearers Martha and Mary.

On December 13th, 2005, on the feast day and the feast of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First Chemat, Dorimedont, Bishop of Edinet and Briceni, officiated the first Holy Mass in the winter Church, after which he consecrated the crosses for the domes.

In 2005, 4 domes were installed, and in 2006 the central dome and crosses. The church is covered with copper plate, and the outer walls are covered with white stone.

Outside, the church’s pediment is decorated with mosaic icons “The Resurrection of Christ”, “The Myrrh Bearing at the Sepulcher” and “Jesus with the Myrrh Bearers”.

Inside the church and the icons on the iconostasis, are painted in Byzantine style.

The fire of the grace of the Holy Spirit that descended on Apostle Andrew also shone in our land, leaving us a legacy of the treasure of the Christian faith and to this day kindles in the soul of each of us the zeal of faith and the desire to follow the saints.
